3 Palm Trees
A nostalgic summer home shaded by a trio of mighty Palms.
Set amidst the unruly greens of Khattalwada, this contemporary cottage draws inspiration from the nostalgic charm of Indian summers. Conceived as a holiday retreat for a young Parsi family from Bombay, the home celebrates a slower pace of living defined by breezy afternoons, shared moments, and a deep connection to nature. Named after the three palm trees that stand as enduring markers on the site, the residence is rooted in a sense of familiarity and ease, offering a contemporary interpretation of comfort immersed in the landscape.
CONCEPT & EXECUTION
The project began with the restoration of a dilapidated cottage that lacked structural stability and required complete salvaging. The architectural response unfolds through two cuboidal volumes punctuated by deep bay windows and wood framed fenestrations, unified beneath sweeping intersecting roofs that lend the home a sculptural identity. Communal functions occupy the primary block, while the second volume is connected through a breezeway that acts as the home’s lung, filtering sunlight and ventilation into the interiors. The material palette remains rooted in warmth and familiarity, bringing together concrete, locally sourced wood, classic harlequin flooring, and textured textiles to create spaces that feel raw yet elevated.

I told MuseLAB that I wanted to feel like I am on vacation every single day - and they truly delivered.
